ORLANDO, Fla. --A new report says Orlando
has more vacant homes than any city in America and, if you drive by any
neighborhood in Orlando, chances are you'll see plenty of "for rent" and "for
sale" signs.
What was once a booming real estate market is now considered by some economists
as a housing bust. According to the Census Bureau, Orlando leads the nation with
the highest home-vacancy rate of 7.4 percent.
In fact, four of the top ten cities with the highest number of empty homes are
in Florida.
Economists say vacancy rates are important because they could affect future
price trends.
